Covington, Georgia: The South’s Hollywood

In recent years, the film and television industry has pumped billions of dollars into Georgia’s economy, ranking the state as the No. 1 Film Production Leader by Business Facilities Magazine in July 2020. One popular location within the state is the city of Covington in Newton County. The impact on Covington transcends the production industry and drives growth in the real estate industry also.

In December, the groundbreaking for The Cove at Covington Town Center was the first new market-rate apartment development in the area since 2000. The majority of Covington’s incoming workforce is under 32 years of age, driving demand for upscale corporate housing options. Facebook is also expanding its data center campus by adding three new buildings – a $1 billion investment. The first two data center buildings currently under construction are scheduled to open this spring. When the three new buildings open in 2023, they will add 1.5 million square feet and 200 new jobs.
